This compact volume is a compendium of true-life oddities, from the amusing to the appalling. Human stupidity, animal horrors and vegetable stench are all covered in snappy chapters and a smattering of snazzy illustrations -- both supplied by BoingBoing founder, Mark Frauenfelder. It reminds me of the old Ripley's Believe It Or Not pocket paperbacks I used to get at the secondhand book stall when I was a kid, except with more text and fewer illustrations. It also feels like a bit like the BoingBoing blog in its earlier days, though with the entries fully fleshed out, printed and bound. A perfect addition to your bathroom library. And I mean that in a good way.
