The tastier followup to Desert Island Discs...
Dessert Island Dishes:
What are the 5 desserts you need on the desert island?
Again, please jump in via the comments, thanks.
My prosaic, comfort-food picks:
Fresh, juicy apple dumplings
Oven fresh chocolate chip cookies
Hot brownies topped with vanilla fudge ice cream and hot chocolate syrup
Chocolate chip cake
Tastykake Cream Filled Chocolate Cupcakes
What's your order?

OK, let's say I've just landed and haven't cranked up my Evanescence CD to send a distress signal to ham radio operators worldwide...I'm munched and I need a sugar fix. Here's my must-haves:
Tim Horton's Walnut Crunch. The fresh-baked variety; not the frozen crap they ship to us in Nova Scotia.
Key Lime Pie. Mmmm...limey goodness.
Black Raspberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. It's like there's a party in my mouth and....errr...never mind.
DQ Oreo Blizzard. Large. In full gravity-defying mode.
Fig Netwons. By the truckload.
Posted by Dominic at 09:01 AM, February 11, 2005.Youse guys are killing me. I'm trying to avoid this stuff. All of these must be served with a big mug of coffee.
1. Canolli-- the cheese kind, from Termini bakery. (although my aunts swear by Isgro's on 9th St.)
2. Chocolate Eclair at the Pink Rose Bakery.
3. Bread Pudding from the Silk City Diner-- it's got big chocolate chunks in it-- get it with whipped cream.
4. Hot Peach Cobbler with vanilla ice cream, made by my friend Jane.
5. Angelfood Cake with strawberry sauce and whipped cream-- this is the standard birthday cake at our house.
6. Che Bap-- The sweet rice pudding with corn and coconut milk from Vietnam Restaurant-- it makes me cry.

1. good european dark chunk chocolate & sweet oranges
2. strawberry cake, made with either biscuity shortcake, or white bakery cake. I ALWAYS get this for my birthday-but never ask for it.
3. hot walnut brownie sundae with butter pecan ice cream, maybe a little butterscotch, hot fudge and mountains of whipped cream, with a cherry on top.
4. cheesecake, extra thick and heavy with the not too sweet tangy sour cream topping. Canned congealed red cherry topping on the side.
5. Warm snickerdoodle cookies and cold milk. MMMmmmmm.
There's a world class Italian Pastry shop up the block from me, sometimes I'll walk in, look around and just run out empty handed because I want one of everything-cannolis, zeppolis, the mini choco biscotti looking cookies, the BIG tiramisu cake, the little tiramisus in plastic, mousse fillled swans filled, the peaches make of cake....
Now The Amish on the other hand, excell at making very sweet, very soft treats. An Amish "Whoo PEE Pie" with its pillowy chocolate cakes and glossy white filling shames its poor imitation, the Moon Pie.
Posted by Missfidget at 05:44 PM, February 11, 2005.molten chocolate cake
chocolate bread pudding
blackberry pie
lemon bars
berry crisp
all with milk of course!
Posted by michelle at 12:10 PM, February 12, 2005.Five desserts would hardly be sufficient but I will play by your rules:-)
Double Chocolate Oblivion Cheezecake
Cheezecake with chocolate sauce and whipped cream
Blueberry cake with brown sugar sauce (aka slickum)
Chocolate cake with butter icing
Ambrosia dessert
And I thought reading your choices made me hungry:-) By the way I am still trying to decide what 11 discs I would choose. For some reason the desserts were easy.
It's a desert island, so no one will see me, right?
Hostess Cup Cakes
Skittles
Fudge
Fresh pineapple (it grows on the island)
Lemon-filled donuts (w/powdered sugar)
Will also probably need an ice-skate for the inevitable dental surgery.
