Mark's Very Large National Lampoon Site

Mark's Very Large National Lampoon Site is, not surprisingly, an extensive site dedicated to the National Lampoon humor magazine -- covering its glory years of the early to mid-seventies, as opposed to its decline to a brand-name for increasingly chintzy movies. Which in turn leads us to Michael Bierut's piece about the fine design work which went into the magazine (and always remember that Cooper Black reigns supreme).

Now it's your turn to force *me* to live in the past. God, I loved reading National Lampoon, and listening to the albums. That imitation Joan Baez song on Radio Dinner was unbelievably mean-spirited and very, very funny.

Hah! Revenge is mine!

I had that album... great stuff... I gave it away somewhere along the line, but I still have "Goodbye Pop". In the late 70s I had a load of their earlier issues -- got them via their back issue mail order deal -- and a lot of the special editions, the high school yearbook, the Sunday newspaper, etc. Again, all given away. I still have "Encyclopedia of Humor" and "Very Large Book of Comical Funnies". I revered the days of the original gang and stopped getting new issues by the time the 80s rolled around.
