History of Krautrock

This reprint of a 1996 article, History of Krautrock, is a handy overview of the genre. Or perhaps you'd like to balance it with the more clear-eyed inside view of someone who was actually on the scene. Back in my de-formative years in the mid-70s, I got to listen to this sort of thing every weekday afternoon from 5:00 to 8:00pm on WXPN -- a then free-form radio station in Philadelphia. I didn't get that many of the records at the time, because, heck -- all I had to do was turn on the radio. Now, of course, it's a different matter.
