American Mavericks is a new public radio series covering "the sounds and personalities of musical innovation in America during the 20th century." It covers a full crowd of composers, from Muhal Richard Abrams to John Zorn with heavies from Charles Ives to John Cage to Terry Riley in between. There is a listing of stations airing the series, though if you're out of luck locally, there is quite a bit of content on the site, including a pair of Live365 streams in "smooth" or "crunchy" flavor (make mine crunchy, thank you). You can even play simulations of Harry Partch's arsenal of instruments. More practically, there is also a listing of the radio episodes, with aired episodes becoming available online.
