First post. Just what the world needs... another damned weblog. What can I say? We have the technology, and I want to tinker. I can only promise that this will not be a personal journal log, with dreary posts about moods and feelings and how I'm totally bummed out because there wasn't any milk for my cereal this morning. Hell, I don't even eat cereal in the morning. So I guess that leaves us another pop culture commentary blog, and gosh, there just aren't enough of those things, right? Well, we'll see what develops.
But a word about the technology. This crazy thing is running on Movable Type, and I'm fairly impressed. I went from downloading the package to having it up and running on the defaults in around 90 minutes, and I wasn't particularly hurrying. Modifying everything to my own function and design choices took a bit longer, but went rather smoothly, and you can indeed set it all up exactly as you want it. I wouldn't call it simple -- there are a lot of possibilities to sort through -- but it's all well organized and modular, and there are no obnoxious obstacles placed in your path. I never ran into any of those "why the hell is this not working" brick wall moments, and that's mighty good and mighty rare. Added benefit: with Movable Type, everything is located in your own domain -- none of the headaches or security leaks of those outside blog systems. Nice stuff.
Okay, here's the Ramones link -- now everybody sing.
